Honour his sacrificeAbout the Book
Para Commando is the true account of Captain Arun Singh Jasrotia, AC, SM — a Special Forces operative of 9 Para (SF) and one of the bravest soldiers of his generation.
Commissioned into the 8th Battalion of the Bihar Regiment, he volunteered for the elite Special Forces and fought militancy in Jammu and Kashmir, earning the Sena Medal for his gallantry at Tilgam.
In September 1995, during an operation in the Lolab Valley, he led his men against heavily armed militants. Though grievously wounded, he fought on, neutralising several terrorists before he laid down his life at twenty-seven.
For his conspicuous courage he was posthumously awarded the Ashoka Chakra, the nation's highest peacetime gallantry award. Deepak Surana's biography is a fitting tribute to a Para Commando's valour.
Wounded and outnumbered, he led from the front until the last terrorist had fallen.
