The Garhwal Rifles

“Pride of the Hills”

Raised on 1 June 1971, the 12th Battalion of The Garhwal Rifles went into action within months in the 1971 Indo-Pak War, capturing Hatibandha in the eastern theatre. The Garhwalis charge to the cry of ‘Badri Vishal Lal Ki Jai’.
