The Extraordinary Life of Rifleman Aurangzeb tells the story of a fearless young soldier of 44 Rashtriya Rifles, drawn from Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir.
He played a part in the operations that neutralised some of the Valley's most wanted terrorists — knowing full well the danger it brought to him and his family.
On 14 June 2018, while travelling home for Eid, he was abducted and killed by terrorists. His sacrifice was mourned across the country and honoured with the Shaurya Chakra.
Written by Damini Punia, author of Operation Khukri, the book is a moving tribute to a soldier whose ordinary background made his extraordinary courage all the more remarkable.
He knew his name was on the terrorists' list — and kept hunting them anyway.
