About the Book
The Kargil Story is a sweeping account of the 1999 war — its battles, its turning points and the soldiers whose valour decided them.
From Tololing to Tiger Hill, Point 4875 to Point 5140, it follows the assaults that recaptured the heights, fought at altitudes and in conditions that tested human endurance to its limit.
The book carries a foreword by Lt Gen Y.K. Joshi, who as a young commanding officer led 13 JAK Rifles through some of the war's fiercest fighting.
Written by Deepak Surana, it is a tribute to the collective courage and sacrifice of the men of Operation Vijay — the bravehearts of the summer of 1999.
The heights of Kargil were reclaimed one impossible climb at a time, by men who would not turn back.
