Sankalp Tewari

Biography

Flight Lieutenant Sankalp Tewari was an officer in the Indian Air Force and served as a pilot with 142 SSS Flight (HU), a specialized helicopter unit. He was commissioned into the Indian Air Force on 16th June 2007 as part of the 179th Course in the Flying (Pilots) branch. On 11th September 2010, Flight Lieutenant Sankalp Tewari was flying a Chetak helicopter, bearing tail number Z-1417, along with Squadron Leader Gaurav Kumar Verma. The helicopter encountered nil visibility conditions while operating in the area and subsequently met with a fatal accident. Flight Lieutenant Sankalp Tewari made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty on 11th September 2010. His dedication, professionalism and service to the Indian Air Force remain an enduring part of the service's proud legacy.
