Anuj Rajput

Biography

Major Anuj Rajput was a dedicated officer of the Indian Army Aviation Corps who made the supreme sacrifice on 21 September 2021 when his Cheetah helicopter crashed in the Patnitop area of Udhampur district, Jammu and Kashmir, following severe weather and dense fog. Born on 18 September 1993, he grew up in Panchkula, Haryana, with roots in Hisar. He was the only child of Kulbansh Singh Arya and Usha Arya. Major Anuj Rajput was commissioned into the Regiment of Artillery on 13 June 2015 after clearing the NDA and IMA. Driven by his passion for flying, he transitioned to the Army Aviation Corps and received his wings in December 2019. He served with the 9 (Independent) Recce and Observation Flight and earned the Silver Cheetah Trophy during his aviation training. On 21 September 2021, he and his co-pilot, Major Rohit Kumar, were on a sortie when their Cheetah helicopter crashed in the Patnitop area, resulting in the loss of both officers.
