Biography

Wing Commander Ramesh Bakshi, also known by the nickname Joe, was an Indian Air Force pilot who made the supreme sacrifice on 8 October 1989 while serving as the Commanding Officer of No. 7 Squadron at Gwalior. He was commissioned into the Indian Air Force on 13 June 1970 as part of the 104 Course. During his distinguished service, he served as a Flying Instructor at the Flying Instructors School in Tambaram and also served as a Flying Instructor with the Iraq Air Force. On 8 October 1989, Wing Commander Ramesh Bakshi was flying a Mirage 2000 aircraft, tail number KF-102, with No. 7 Squadron during an Air Force Day flypast when the aircraft crashed. He died in service while carrying out his duties.
