Biography
Lieutenant Nawang Kapadia served in the 4th Battalion, 3rd Gorkha Rifles. He displayed extraordinary courage during counter-insurgency operations in Kupwara, Jammu & Kashmir. On 20 March 2000, he led his team in an operation against militants, showing exceptional bravery and leadership. He made the supreme sacrifice while engaging the enemy and was posthumously awarded the Ashoka Chakra, India's highest peacetime gallantry award.
