Biography
Major Rohit Kumar was born in Jammu on 25 April 1986 to retired Army Captain Kamal Kumar Chajgotra and Rajni Chajgotra. After completing his education, he joined the Indian Military Academy and was commissioned as a Lieutenant. He later transitioned to the Army Aviation Corps as a helicopter pilot, serving with distinction for over 10 years. On 21 September 2021, Major Rohit Kumar was executing an operational mission in a Cheetah Helicopter along with co-pilot Major Anuj Rajput in the Patnitop area of Jammu and Kashmir. The aircraft encountered an emergency situation due to dense fog and adverse weather conditions near Shiv Garh village, Seoj Dhar. The forced landing resulted in a severe crash. Both pilots were evacuated to Command Hospital Udhampur, where they succumbed to their injuries. Major Rohit Kumar made the supreme sacrifice at the age of 35, leaving behind his wife Shikha and daughter Shaarvi. In his honor, the roundabout at Ace City Society, Noida has been named "Major Rohit Kumar, Aimnabad".
