Biography

Abhinav Nagori, son of Shri Dharamchand Nagori and Smt Sushila Devi, hailed from Udaipur, Rajasthan. He completed engineering in electronics from SJB Institute of Technology, Bengaluru in 2008 before declining multiple job offers to join the Navy. Commissioned on July 25, 2012, after six months at the Indian Naval Academy and one year of pilot training at the Air Force Academy, Dundigul, he became the first person in his family to be commissioned as an officer in the Navy. An accomplished individual, he was an avid swimmer, nature enthusiast, skilled cook, cyclist, and violin player. While serving with INAS 310 at INS Hansa, Goa, on March 24, 2015, his Dornier aircraft disappeared during a night maritime reconnaissance sortie. At approximately 22:08 hours, the aircraft crashed approximately 25 nautical miles off the coast of Goa. His body was recovered two days later from the fuselage, approximately 60 meters beneath the sea surface. Lieutenant Abhinav Nagori was 24 years old when he made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.
