Biography
Thorat Kiran Popatrao was born on 20 July 1987 in Fakirabad Wadi village, Waijapur Tehsil, Aurangabad district, Maharashtra. He joined the Indian Army in 2007 and served with The Maratha Light Infantry for approximately 11 years, gaining experience across various operational terrains. In 2018, Naik Thorat was posted to Jammu & Kashmir and was manning a forward post in the Krishna Ghati sector of Rajouri district. On 11 April 2018, Pakistani troops initiated unprovoked firing along the Line of Control. During the intense cross-border exchange of fire, Naik Thorat Kiran Popatrao was grievously injured and later succumbed to his injuries. He was 31 years old.
