Kuldeep Chand

Biography

Kuldeep Chand hailed from Kamlah village, Nadaun, Hamirpur district, Himachal Pradesh. He enlisted in the Indian Army in 1996 and served with the 9th Battalion of The Punjab Regiment, rising through the ranks to Subedar through his professionalism and leadership. On 12 April 2025, during a counter-terrorism operation in the Keri Bhattal area of Akhnoor sector, Jammu & Kashmir, Subedar Kuldeep Chand's unit encountered terrorists in dense forest terrain. When the terrorists opened fire, he led from the front and engaged the enemy despite sustaining multiple gunshot wounds. His sustained fire enabled his unit to neutralize the threat. He succumbed to his injuries, making the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.
