Biography
Gore Amol Tanhaji hailed from Sonkhas village in Washim district, Maharashtra, and enlisted in the Indian Army in 2010 at the age of 18. He served with the elite 11 Para (Special Forces) battalion, specializing in jungle warfare and counterinsurgency operations. During a border patrol in East Kameng district, Arunachal Pradesh, on April 14, 2023, his team was caught in flash floods caused by challenging weather conditions. Though struck by debris, he assisted his comrades to safety before being swept away while attempting self-rescue, making the supreme sacrifice.
