Biography
Aman Kumar Singh, aged 22, hailed from Hata village in Kushinagar district of Uttar Pradesh. He completed his intermediate education at Hallmark World School, Gorakhpur, and began a BTech programme in Civil Engineering at Ghaziabad before joining the Indian Army through the Technical Entry Scheme. He was commissioned into the Rajput Regiment, recently promoted to the rank of Captain after two years as a Lieutenant, and had been serving in the Baramulla/Kupwara region for a year. On 22 February 2026, while on operational duty in the remote, high-altitude Narayan area of Handwara in Kupwara district, he suffered a sudden cardiac arrest between 9:00 and 11:00 am. Fellow soldiers carried him on their shoulders through difficult terrain to a helipad and he was airlifted to the 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar, where he was declared dead on arrival at around 2:00 pm despite extensive resuscitation efforts. He was brought home to Kushinagar with full state honours.
