Biography
Sepoy Raman Kumar was from Depur village in Hoshiarpur district, born in 1995. He joined the Indian Army in 2014 at the age of 19, serving with the 16 Dogra Battalion before his deputation to 62 Rashtriya Rifles in Jammu & Kashmir. On 1 June 2018, while conducting a search operation in the mountainous terrain of the Uri sector, he slipped and fell from a steep slope into a deep gorge. Despite swift rescue efforts and evacuation to the military hospital at Rampur, he succumbed to his severe injuries at the age of 23, making the ultimate sacrifice in the service of the nation.
