Biography
Rifleman Parvesh Kumar Rana hailed from Mukhala village in Karnal district, Haryana. He joined the Indian Army on 5 March 1996 and was recruited into the Rajputana Rifles Regiment. During the 1999 Kargil conflict, his company was deployed to the Turtuk region at over 18,000 feet. On 6 June, tasked with capturing a strategic position, the patrol came under heavy enemy fire 50 metres from its objective. Despite receiving gunshot wounds, he continued firing on the enemy until the patrol could extricate itself from the line of fire. He was martyred at the age of 20.
