Biography
Rifleman Abdul Hamid Chara of the 162 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army) belonged to Dardpura village in the Lolab Valley of Kupwara district, Jammu & Kashmir. On 12 June 2007, during an operation in the Ander Nar area of Gagal in Kupwara, he displayed conspicuous courage against militants and made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. For his exemplary gallantry, he was awarded the Shaurya Chakra posthumously.
