Biography

Havaldar Dola Ram was born on 17th January 1965 in the village of Sakroli, in Nirmand tehsil of Kullu district, Himachal Pradesh. He completed his primary education at the Government High School in Nithar. After finishing his studies, he joined the Indian Army on 5th August 1985, being enrolled into the Parachute Regiment. During the Kargil conflict of 1999, his unit, 1 Para, was deployed in Jammu & Kashmir. On 3rd July 1999, while engaging Pakistani intruders in fierce combat, Havaldar Dola Ram fought with great courage and determination. Displaying exceptional bravery in the face of the enemy, he laid down his life in the line of duty and attained martyrdom. For his conspicuous gallantry and valour during the operation, Havaldar Dola Ram was awarded the Sena Medal posthumously.
