T K Reddy

Biography

Sepoy T K Reddy was born in Obulapuram village in the Giddalur tehsil of Prakasam district, Andhra Pradesh. After completing his schooling, he was selected for the Army and enrolled in the Madras Regiment, an infantry regiment renowned for its fearless soldiers and distinguished record in battle. In 2017 he was posted to the 25 Rashtriya Rifles, which was deployed in Jammu and Kashmir for counter-terrorism operations. On 12 October 2017, from around 10.35 a.m., the Pakistani army initiated unprovoked firing on Indian Army posts in the Krishna Ghati Sector. Indian forces responded in equal measure, and the exchange of fire continued for several hours. The firing spread panic among residents of the border village of Khari Karmara in the Poonch area. During this engagement, Sepoy T K Reddy was grievously wounded. He was airlifted to the Command Hospital in Udhampur, where he succumbed to his injuries and attained martyrdom.
