Biography

Naik Selva Kumar P served with 1 Para (Special Forces), known as the Red Devils, one of the most elite units of the Indian Army. After completing his preliminary education in Tamil Nadu, he joined the Parachute Regiment and was later inducted into 1 Para (SF). On February 23, 2010, during a counter-insurgency operation at Chinkipora village in Sopore district, Jammu and Kashmir, Naik Selva Kumar was part of the assault team led by Captain Devinder Singh Jass tasked with neutralizing militants hiding in a residential building. As the team stormed the structure, militants opened fire from multiple vantage points using automatic weapons and grenades. Naik Selva Kumar sustained serious injuries during the intense firefight and made the supreme sacrifice. For his exceptional courage, devotion to duty, and supreme sacrifice, he was posthumously awarded the Sena Medal.
