Biography

Parvez Khan was born on January 7, 1990, in Shekha village, Rajsamand district, Rajasthan, to Havildar Mangu Khan, an army veteran, and Smt Shanta Bi. Growing up in a family with a strong military tradition, he was inspired by his father to serve the nation. He enlisted in the Indian Army in 2009 at the age of 19 and was recruited into the 5th Battalion of The Grenadiers Regiment. Over approximately 10 years of dedicated service, he rose to the rank of Naik and earned a reputation as a committed and disciplined soldier. In early 2019, Naik Parvez Khan was deployed in Baramulla district, Jammu & Kashmir, for counter-insurgency and internal security operations along the Line of Control. On March 28, 2019, while conducting an armed patrol near the LoC, a sudden landslide struck the patrol party. Naik Parvez Khan was swept into a stream and sustained severe injuries. A rescue team was launched immediately and managed to recover him, but despite being rushed to 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar, he succumbed to his injuries at the age of 29.
