Biography

Hari Bhakar hailed from Joosari village in Makrana Tehsil, Nagaur district, Rajasthan. Born to Padma Ram Bhakar and Kamla Devi in a military family with fifteen extended family members serving in the Armed Forces, he grew up valuing discipline and national service. He was the eldest of three siblings, including twin brother Harendra, who also joined the Indian Army. After completing schooling at Karni Senior Secondary School and Saraswathi Public School, Makrana, he joined the Indian Army in July 2016 at age seventeen and a half. Following training at Jabalpur Cantonment, he was inducted into 4 Grenadiers and deployed to the Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir. On March 24, 2019, during intense cross-border shelling triggered by Pakistani ceasefire violations, Grenadier Hari Bhakar was grievously wounded by shell splinters while performing operational duties at a forward position. He succumbed to his injuries despite immediate medical evacuation, exemplifying courage, steadfastness, and unwavering devotion to duty.
