Biography
Pappu Ram Kundu hailed from Maliyar Jatt village in Alwar, Rajasthan, and served with the 20 Grenadiers before being deputed to 29 Rashtriya Rifles for counter-terrorism operations in Jammu and Kashmir. During an operation against heavily armed militants in Baramulla on April 17, 2004, he led from the front, courageously confronting the terrorists and providing cover to his comrades. Despite sustaining severe injuries, he continued engaging the enemy, enabling his team to neutralize the remaining threats before succumbing to his wounds. He was posthumously awarded the Shaurya Chakra on January 26, 2005.
