Biography

Sepoy Hasansab Khudavand hailed from Saidapur village in Navalagund Tehsil of Dharwad district in Karnataka and was born on 01 January 1992. He was the son of Shri Imamsab Khudavand and Smt Zeenatbee Khudavand. After completing his initial education, he joined the Indian Army on 22 March 2013 at the age of 19. He was recruited into the 21 Madras Battalion of the Madras Regiment, an infantry regiment known for its gallant soldiers and numerous battle honours. During 2016, Sepoy Hasansab was serving with his unit deployed in the Batalik sector of Jammu & Kashmir as part of "Operation Rakshak". As the unit was located near the Line of Control, its troops were tasked with manning various forward posts within their area of responsibility. In addition to holding these designated posts, the unit operated regular patrols to monitor the gaps between manned positions. The troops had to exercise extreme caution while patrolling, as the terrain was very tough, scattered with natural obstacles as well as enemy-laid mines and booby traps. On 29 July 2016, Sepoy Hasansab was part of a patrol party led by Subedar Basappa Patil of his unit. While traversing their planned route, the patrol came under a severe mine blast at the Ganasok sub-sector in the Batalik sector. Several soldiers, including Subedar Patil and Sepoy Hasansab, suffered grievous injuries. They were evacuated for medical treatment, but the wounds proved too serious, and Sepoy Hasansab Khudavand later succumbed to his injuries. A valiant and devoted soldier, he laid down his life in the service of the nation.
