Biography

Sepoy Ram Singh Sheoran hailed from Damuaka village in Khair Tehsil of Aligarh district, Uttar Pradesh. He served in 11 Jat of the Jat Regiment. On 13th March 1986, during Operation Meghdoot at the Siachen Glacier, he was part of a patrol led by Nb Sub Nafe Singh along the Saltoro Ridge. Enemy shelling triggered a devastating avalanche that buried the entire team under thick snow. Despite a large-scale rescue operation, Sepoy Ram Singh Sheoran and seven of his comrades could not be saved. He made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty at one of the world's highest battlefields.
