Biography

Fateh Singh hailed from Badesra village, Bhiwani district, Haryana. He served in the 11 Jat Battalion during Operation Meghdoot on the Siachen Glacier, the world's highest battlefield. On March 22, 1986, while leading his team on patrol through the perilous terrain, a devastating avalanche triggered by enemy shelling struck the patrol. Despite immediate rescue efforts by fellow soldiers, the unforgiving conditions of extreme cold and deep snow made survival impossible. Four of his comrades — Havildar Shyam Lal, Sepoy Raj Bir, Sepoy Satyavir Singh, and Sepoy Prem Chand Dular — also perished in this tragic incident.
