Biography

Prem Chand Dular hailed from Hanuman Pura village, Jhunjhunu district, Rajasthan. He served with the 11 Jat Battalion during Operation Meghdoot, tasked with securing the strategically vital Saltoro Ridge on the Siachen Glacier against Pakistani territorial claims. On March 22, 1986, while on patrol through the treacherous high-altitude terrain, he and his team were caught in a devastating avalanche triggered by enemy shelling. The extreme conditions of sub-zero temperatures, relentless blizzards, and continuous enemy fire made rescue impossible. Four fellow soldiers from his battalion — Havildar Shyam Lal, Naik Fateh Singh, Sepoy Raj Bir, and Sepoy Satyavir Singh — also perished in this tragic incident.
