Biography

Jitendra Kumar Shishodia hailed from Shaulana village in Dhaulana tehsil of Hapur district in Uttar Pradesh. Son of Shri Charan Singh and Smt Guddi Devi, he was born on 25th March 1994. After completing his school education, he joined the Army at the age of 20 on 19 September 2014. He was recruited into 21 Raj Rif of the Rajputana Rifles Regiment. During November 2017, his unit was deployed in Kupwara district of J&K for counter-insurgency operations. The unit received intelligence about a possible infiltration attempt in the Zarhama area of Kupwara district. On 21st November 2017, the unit launched an operation to foil the infiltration attempt. Jitendra Kumar was part of the team assigned to undertake this operation, during which he made the supreme sacrifice in service of the nation.
