Biography
Saleem Khan Mewati hailed from Mahuwa Khurd village in the Umrain tehsil of Alwar district, Rajasthan, and served as a dedicated JCO with the 24 Rajput Battalion. During a search-and-destroy mission in the Poonch sector on April 18, 1999, he and Sepoy Kamal Naimuddin Qazi engaged militants in a fierce firefight. Despite being outnumbered and facing sustained enemy fire, they advanced courageously. Both soldiers sustained critical injuries and made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.
