Biography
Gajendra Singh was a commando of the elite Para Special Forces of the Indian Army. On the intervening night of 18–19 January 2026, he was part of the joint team executing Operation TRASHI-I — a counter-terrorist operation targeting Jaish-e-Mohammad linked terrorists in the dense Singhpora forest area of Chatroo in Kishtwar district, Jammu & Kashmir. During the fierce gunfight, terrorists opened fire and hurled grenades at the advancing forces. Havildar Gajendra Singh sustained grievous injuries while gallantly engaging the terrorists at close quarters and made the supreme sacrifice. Eight soldiers were injured in the same encounter. The Chief of the Army Staff and the White Knight Corps paid solemn tributes to his courage and selfless service.
