Biography
Grenadier Pravin Kumar Yadav hailed from Anjani village in Mainpuri district, Uttar Pradesh. He was inducted into the 18 Grenadiers battalion after completing his schooling. During the Kargil conflict, his unit was deployed in the Drass sector. On 3 June 1999, while assaulting the strategically vital Tololing ridge at over 15,000 feet, he and his comrades charged onto the enemy, killing one intruder in hand-to-hand combat and enabling the capture of Point 4599. He subsequently succumbed to his injuries and was awarded the Sena Medal for his commendable courage, determination, devotion to duty and supreme sacrifice.
