Biography
Flight Lieutenant Ashish Tanwar hailed from Deeghot village in Palwal district. After completing his graduation in computer science, he joined the IAF as a short service commissioned officer, commissioned into the flying branch on 20 June 2015. He trained as a transport pilot and gained experience across various air operations. On 3 June 2019, while serving with 43 Squadron based at Jorhat, Assam, he and the crew departed for the Mechuka Advanced Landing Ground. The AN-32 aircraft lost contact 33 minutes after take-off, and the wreckage was found after eight days following a massive rescue operation involving the Indian Army, ITBP and IAF aircraft. A competent pilot and committed air warrior, he laid down his life in the line of duty.
