Biography

Flight Lieutenant Mohit Kumar Garg hailed from Samana town in Patiala district and was born in 1992. He attended Punjab Public School at Nabha on scholarship and was selected for the National Defence Academy. Commissioned as a flying pilot on 21 June 2014 after completing the 193 Pilots' Course, he trained as a transport pilot and was promoted to Flight Lieutenant on 21 June 2016. On 3 June 2019, while serving at Air Force Station Jorhat, Assam, he and the crew departed for the Mechuka Advanced Landing Ground. The aircraft lost contact 33 minutes after take-off and crashed in mountainous terrain; the wreckage was recovered after an eight-day rescue operation. An accomplished transport pilot and committed air warrior, he laid down his life at the age of 27.
