Mula Ram Bidiyasar

Biography

Sepoy Mula Ram Bidiyasar hailed from Rajasthan's Nagaur district, born in Ratau village and later settled at Kathoti village in the Jayal tehsil. Drawn to the soldier's life, he joined the Jat Regiment and was posted to its 4th Battalion. During Operation Vijay in 1999, his battalion was deployed in the Kaksar sector. On 15 May 1999, he was part of the patrol led by Captain Saurabh Kalia that moved up to Bajrang Post to detect enemy intrusion. The party engaged the entrenched Pakistani troops and, after fighting until their ammunition was exhausted, were overpowered and taken into captivity. Sepoy Mula Ram endured roughly three weeks of brutal torture in captivity, never wavering in his loyalty to the nation. His mortal remains were returned on 9 June 1999, bearing the marks of the cruelty he had withstood. He made the supreme sacrifice during the early chapter of the Kargil War and is remembered with profound respect for his courage and endurance.
