Biography
Sepoy Syodana Ram Bijarniya was born on 25 June 1972 in Haripura village of Rajasthan's Sikar district. Passionate about serving in the Army from childhood, he enlisted in the 17 Jat Battalion of the Jat Regiment on 28 April 1991 at the age of 19. After his training, he grew into a highly skilled and dedicated soldier within a battalion renowned for its valiant men and storied battles. During the 1999 Kargil War, his battalion was deployed along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir and was inducted into the Mushkoh Valley on 22 May 1999 as part of 79 Mountain Brigade. The recapture of Point 4875, which dominated the Drass–Mushkoh highway, was assigned to a force that included 17 Jat. In the second phase of the assault, Charlie Company launched an attack on Pimple II on the night of 6 July 1999. After his company commander was wounded, the troops located and cleared four enemy bunkers armed with automatic machine guns. While fighting with admirable courage during this action, Sepoy Syodana Ram was hit by enemy fire and succumbed to his injuries, laying down his life at the age of 27.
