Biography

Dharambeer Singh hailed from Malupur village in Agra district, Uttar Pradesh, and was recruited into the 17 Jat Regiment. During Operation Vijay, he participated in the assault to capture Point 4540 as part of No. 4 Platoon, B Company. While advancing under heavy automatic fire and enemy shelling, he crawled toward an enemy position and was seriously wounded by gunfire. Despite his injuries, he kept engaging the enemy until struck by a rocket-propelled grenade. He was just 19 years old when he made the supreme sacrifice. His courage contributed to the eventual capture of the strategically important Point 4875. He was awarded a Mention in Despatches.
