Biography
Lance Naik Rajbir Singh was born on 15 March 1967 in Garhipatti village, Hodal Tehsil, Palwal District, Haryana. Raised in a hardworking rural family, he grew up with strong values of resilience and determination, completing his early education at schools in Garhipatti and Hodal. On 11 March 1988, driven by a desire to serve the nation, he joined the Jat Regiment and trained at the Jat Regimental Centre, Bareilly. He was subsequently posted to the 17 Jat Battalion and rose to the rank of Lance Naik by 1999. During the Kargil War, his battalion was inducted into the Mushkoh Valley on 22 May 1999 as part of operations to evict Pakistani intruders. As part of the plan to capture the strategically vital Point 4875, which dominated the Drass–Mugalpur highway, the Charlie Company of 17 Jat launched an assault on Pimple II on the night of 6 July 1999. Under intense automatic machine-gun fire from several enemy bunkers, the troops fought with exceptional courage and cleared all four bunkers. During this fierce action, Lance Naik Rajbir Singh was hit by enemy fire and succumbed to his injuries, laying down his life at the age of 32 in the line of duty.
