Biography
Mohammad Ikram Khan hailed from Rolsahebsar village, Sikar district, Rajasthan. He came from a proud military family and enlisted in the Indian Army in 1994, joining 6 Grenadiers Battalion. On 7 April 2000, during Operation Rakshak in Rajouri district, Jammu & Kashmir, Grenadier Mohammad Ikram Khan's unit was conducting a search operation in Naiti village when they encountered terrorists. In the ensuing firefight, he shot and killed one terrorist and wounded another. However, during the fierce exchange of fire, he was critically hit near the eye. Despite being evacuated to the military hospital at Udhampur, he succumbed to his injuries five days later on 12 April 2000. For his exceptional bravery and supreme sacrifice, Grenadier Mohammad Ikram Khan was posthumously awarded the Shaurya Chakra.
